Woman vs. Men in Size for hooded sweatshirt?

I want to buy a hooded sweatshirt for my Girlfriend for her birthday.. and found one I really like that is suppose to be for a guy, but it looks really girly for me. I know she uses medium for girls wear like that, would that be something like small for guys? Thanks for any answers :)
