Could you please share your experience w/ applying for & getting track & or cross country scholarships?

Beginning high school next year. Already nationally ranked in xcountry. Straight A student. I want to be a surgeon. Am hoping to get scholarships for track/xcountry as well as for academics. Grades great - running very good (like consistantly top 8 in races...occionally 1st or 2nd...(I have less experience than most of my team mates...am working on that). My dream schools include Stanford, Yale, USC....but will applying to UCLA, and CSU schools....Would appreciate reading experiences w/ getting track scholarships - application process, etc.
