Im looking to go backpacking in a couple weeks. Does anyone know of a trail which allows camping by a lake?

Im looking to go backpacking a a scenic trail. I would like to camp overnight by a river or lake of some sort. As far as I know, In Yosemite, you arent allowed to camp within a mile of any lake or river....Does anyone know of such a trail? My ideal trail would be backpacking through a forest, and overnight camping near a lake or river.
